500 Posts

A screenshot from the Sims, of people dancing at a disco

This post is my 500th on The Worm Hole so I’m celebrating it in style by getting seven digital people dancing to hip hop in a game (I believe the phrase is “because I am that awesome”). If you’d quoted 500 to me when I first started blogging I would’ve laughed. As clichéd as it sounds, it’s true – it’s incredibly difficult to see yourself having composed that many posts, and I reckon that’s still true even if from the start you fully expect to be around for a while.

The number has a lot to do with my decision to post to a schedule. If I was still posting to the strange and not-always-kept schedule I used to have, it would have probably taken me another year or two to get this far. And on a more sober note, if I hadn’t had drafts already waiting it would have been a while due to, well, life.

I’m not going to saying I’m looking forward to 1000 because that’s too daunting. But I will say I am grateful for all of you, for reading my blog, adding to it, and for the friendship. I’m grateful for the way a whole world has opened up to me thanks to blogging (including inspiring me to go to university), and all the knowledge I’ve gained that I likely wouldn’t have if I didn’t have a ‘strict’ reason to read so much.

Have you celebrated a blogging milestone before?

Congratulations! Wait till your well over 1000!
I celebrate milestones on my blog too. It isn’t just a celebration for me but for my readers who have been there along the way. :-)

Happy 500th Postday, Charlie! Hey, looks like some of those digital people are using my dance moves!

Happy 500th post! What a milestone. Your SIMs picture is brilliance. I realised – after checking my wordpress just now – that my post today was my 200th.

Congrats — that’s wonderful! I keep forgetting to note my blogiversaries and whatnot, but I think in Jan it’ll be my 4th year. I’ll have to double check. Regardless, I’m glad you’re honoring your 500th post — brava!

Congrats! My number is not nearly that high, and I am still often amazed to see how quickly it increases :)

Happy 500th! That’s awesome! I think I may have celebrated a bloggy birthday once or twice, but as a rule, blogging milestones slip by without me noticing and I never have a chance to celebrate them. :p

Happy, Happy 500th! I really enjoy your posts – always something to think about and (uh oh!) to add to the TBR.

Freda: Thank you! That’s a good point about readers, they are just as much a part of the blog in many ways. 1000 seems so far away!

Andrew: Thanks, Andrew! I don’t know, their moves are incredibly cheesy, I think they’d put the stereotypical family party dancing to shame!

Alice: Thanks, Alice, and congratulations on 200!

Jessica: Thanks, Jessica!#

Judie: Thank you, and I’m glad you like my blog!

Literary Feline: Thank you!

Audra: Oh I almost missed this one, it can be easy to forget to check! I saw your post, yay for four years :)

Christine: Thank you, I hear you there :) There is a distance of sorts between how much you’ve written and how much you think you’ve written. I think we tend to underestimate ourselves.

Helen: Thank you, Helen!

Jenny: Thanks! They are all to easy to slip pass. Whether that’s a sign that we’re ‘too’ into blogging (which is good, I reckon) or not I have no idea!

Anbolyn: Thank you!

Vicki: Thanks, Vicki! Yes, the TBR is in a constant state of falling over in our ‘field’!

Aarti: Thanks, Aarti!
