Persephone Reading Weekend

Persephone Reading Weekend Logo

I interrupt normal proceedings to tell you that I’ll be joining in on the Persephone Reading Weekend. It’s hosted by Claire and Verity.

I had doubled-up on posts in my schedule, even though I’ve been looking forward to it for the last two weeks somehow today it got forgotten. Luckily not for long. This weekend I intend to read The Victorian Chaise-Longue, no matter how worried I am about it. Helen’s review got me interested, but freaked, and another couple of reviews made both those feelings continue. Finally I have the word of one of the Persephone staff who warned me of the contents.

Suffice to say things don’t look bright for this weekend but I am going to give the book a go.

My boyfriend will be with me so I guess I can huddle against him if the book gets too scary.

It’s not so much scary as it is… oppressive, if that makes sense. For me anyway. Looking forward to hearing what you think!

Charlie: I’m on page 55 and enjoying it so far, can’t make out what’s happened though.

As Nymeth says: it is more oppressive, stifling and claustrophobic than out-and-out frightening.

Enjoy, Charlie, and thanks so much for joining us for Persephone Reading Weekend!

Charlie: I have to agree. I’m wanting to write a post on it in addition to a review, so much to think about regarding it!
