Mompesson is small house, at least compared to other houses open to the public, but it’s worth a visit if you’re in Salisbury and have a bit of time on your hands. It’s located on the green just in front of the cathedral grounds, the grey house in the photo, and is quite pretty. I haven’t seen the film, but apparently it was used in the 1995 version of Sense And Sensibility.
Which historical places have you visited recently?

Beautiful, I do recognise it a little from S&S.
I wish I had visited a historical place recently, I’ve done nothing so cultural in a while :(

It’s very beautiful! Whenever I visit places like that, I always imagine what it would be like to live there.

Pretty! I haven’t been anywhere terribly historical lately, but I want to go to Poverty Point soon. It’s a place in Louisiana that recently got named a UNESCO World Heritage site — all these huge mounds that we know shockingly little about. They are from long long looooooong ago.

Mompesson house looks lovely and I love the 1995 film Sense and Sensibility! Thank you for sharing your lovely pictures. While I was on holiday in France I visited the wonderful Château de Menthon which Disney based Snow White’s castle on.

Reminds me that I need to watch Sense and Sensibility (well, first I need to READ it!). Very lovely grounds and rooms.
